NEURALVILLAGE
SOCIAL IMPACT
The graph below presents the findings of a research survey conducted by NeuralVillage in 2023, which indicates that 91.9% of BSc certificate holders are unfamiliar with neuroscience. However, these individuals have developed a strong interest in learning more about the field as they intend to pursue further education. Additionally, the 8.1% who are familiar have also expressed a desire to acquire more knowledge about the discipline. Recognizing the critical need for better neuroscience education in Nigeria, we are proud to establish the David Bedford Brain Science Academy, a primary and secondary school with a core focus on neuroscience. This educational academy honors the memory of the late David Bedford, an inspiring Australian who, despite facing quadriplegia for over 20 years following a car accident, bravely lived his life. David, a chef who also served on NeuralVillage's advisory board, made significant contributions by sharing his invaluable understanding of patients with critical neurological conditions. Furthermore, he supported the Dr. Ladi Kwali Foundation Scholarship for primary and secondary school students in Kwali, hoping to inspire their pursuit of neuro-related careers.
